My first fly fishing show of 2025 is the Virginia Fly Fishing and Wine Festival. This unique event allows anglers to learn about fly fishing in a beginner-friendly environment. It combines fine wine tasting, microbrewery beer, and everything you ever wanted to know about fly fishing but were afraid to ask. The mission of the Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival is to introduce as many people to the sport of fly fishing as possible and to raise the level of awareness of the many pressing conservation issues facing Virginia. The underlying belief is that people connected to the outdoors in their recreational activities are more inclined to protect the natural resources they enjoy. As a lifelong conservationist, their mission aligns with my personal beliefs, which is one of the reasons I enjoy participating in this show. The other reason is it is just plain fun.
I will be sharing a table with my good friend Fritz Miller, an incredibly talented fly tier. I will tie up some of my favorite panfish and warm-water fly patterns at this event. I will have some tying materials and tools for sale, including a few Triangle Bug Foam Cutters, which just arrived. I will bring a bunch to the show for folks looking for one. After the show, I’ll contact those on the reserve list before listing them for sale on the website.
The Virginia Fly Fishing & Wine Festival is in its twenty-fourth year. It will be held at The Meadow Events Park, just a few miles outside of Richmond, Virginia, on Friday, January 10th and Saturday 11th, 2024. The festival, the largest event in the area, draws fly anglers from as far away as New York and Georgia. It is a family-friendly event that appeals to anglers of all ages and skill levels. This is an all-weather event, meaning the show will go on regardless of what Mother Nature throws our way!
Many panfish enthusiasts attend this event. Please stop by my table, say hello, and join the conversation! I look forward to meeting you.
