We Are Back!
As you may have noticed, things have been quiet around here over the last two months. A major renovation took place here at Panfish On The Fly Central that effectively shut things down for a while. There was also some traveling to fish far off places that kept me away from home!
Things have returned to normal and we will once again be moving forward. Blog posts will resume, the shop has reopened, and I am once again taking fly orders. Look for an expanded selection of tied to order flies (that will increase over time) as well as some immediately available fly selections and individual patterns.
In addition to significantly increasing the selection of flies, you can look forward to a growing variety of fly tying materials and fly fishing accessories. In the accessories department, I am happy to announce the addition of Yakoda Fly Tins to the Panfish On The Fly line up.
I have been personally testing these ultra-compact fly boxes over this past fishing season. They are the perfect fly box for an impromptu fishing session. I keep a number of these fly boxes loaded up and ready to go. They carry more than enough flies for a day’s fishing and disappear in a shirt or pants pocket. This is not your typical “Altoids Tin” style fly box. These economical fly tins are sturdier and deeper than an Altoids tin with precision cut foam inserts and magnetic trays for securely holding your flies. The extra depth means you can store your panfish poppers and bugs without fear of crushing them. The boxes are available in two colors grey/chartreuse and black/orange and two different styles. The first model has solid foam on the lid and slotted foam on the tray, which is perfect for larger flies. The second has a hook holding loop material on the top and a slotted foam/magnet tray. The magnet is great for storing smaller patterns, but I have found it incredibly useful for holding flies during a quick fly change on the water.
We are also expanding our selection of Ewing Hackle. I have a lot of different necks and deceiver patches I will be adding to the website once I get them photographed. Don’t miss out on this month’s special! We are offering a Bleached Grizzly. You can save ten dollars off the regular price of $49.95 on one of these great looking necks while supplies last! The sale ends on September 15th.
Because of our closure during the previous month, I am also going to extend last month’s special for an additional days. You can pick up a Dyed Brown Grizzly Hen Set for ten dollars off the regular price of $49.95. This Grizzly Hen Set includes the Neck, Back, and Chickabou packs. Fly tying uses of these feathers include dry fly wings, spinner wings, wet fly collars, popper tails, crayfish claws and fins for baitfish imitations. The chickabou feathers are an excellent substitution for marabou, especially for smaller panfish patterns.
